India has in recent years undergone a new phase of economic transformation and has succeeded in significantly expanding its production capacities by relying on structural reforms and attracting substantial investment. The expansion of modern industries, the development of major infrastructure projects and the growth of technology driven sectors have reshaped the country’s economic landscape. At the same time, improvements in productivity and the creation of new capacities within the production sectors have strengthened India’s position in the global value chain. This set of developments has also led to a rising trend in the country’s metal consumption market as a result of the growing output of various industries.
In this context, issue No.27 of “Metals News” monthly magazine focuses on India. The first section of this issue examines the economic transformation of the country and the current state of its economic structure. The second section reviews the performance of metal consuming industries and the role each of them plays in shaping the metal consumption market. The third section analyzes the trajectory of development and investment in the construction and infrastructure sectors and the impact of each on metal consumption. The final section presents an overview of the general trends and the contribution of different consuming industries to the metal consumption market.
